In 1994, Quaker purchased Snapple for $1.7 billion hoping to sell it in grocery stores across the country. However, its success in small stores inspired copycats from Pepsi and Coca-Cola. After three years of competition, Quaker sold Snapple for just $300 million, losing $1.4 billion.
