Students today are punished for working ahead in their classes, let alone are they allowed to work through schooling in general at a faster pace. This was true even 20 years ago when I was in school; just reading ahead in a book or starting an assignment early was considered “disruptive to the learning curriculum” or some crap like that.
It’s only worse now. That’s how we have grad students who can barely write a full sentence correctly; everything has to cater to the slowest, least intelligent of students because it’s “mean” to let them fail of their own merit.
Whereas today, the school system would step you into the ground, you would be diagnosed with some artificial autistic shit etc.
