The USPS has ~1,700 employees in Utah whose sole job is to read illegible addresses which the machine can’t read. They process 5 million pieces of mail daily with some employees averaging 1,600 addresses an hour. – WTF Fun Facts

In 1905, the Cullinan Diamond (the largest, gem-quality rough diamond ever found) was supposedly sent from South Africa to the United Kingdom by a heavily guarded steamboat. In actuality, they mailed it in a plain box using registered post. – WTF Fun Facts
